Horkos NX70 DUO combines printing and cutting

Horkos and Meltio has launched an AM version of the NX70 DUO – a new twin-head non-bed machining centre, combining metal additive manufacturing and high-precision cutting.

This new solution from the Japanese manufacturer is powered by Linares, Spain-based Meltio’s metal technology, which combines additive and subtractive manufacturing capabilities, enabling manufacturers to alternate between material deposition and precision machining within the same machine and setup.

Meltio technology uses welding wire as the metal feedstock and laser energy to deposit material precisely where it is needed, making the combination of additive and subtractive processes for complex part production, repair, remanufacturing, and prototyping possible.

“We are thrilled to launch the NX70 DUO version AM, which seamlessly combines Meltio’s breakthrough Wire-DED technology with Horkos’s proprietary precision engineering and sustainable water-soluble iMQL system,” said Horkos R&D Division Director Kunihiro Ikeda.

“This purpose-built hybrid machine directly addresses the most pressing challenges in modern manufacturing, including severe labour shortages, floor-space constraints, and environmental impact by delivering an uncompromising, highly automated solution,” added Ikeda.

The need to transfer components is significantly reduced by consolidating multiple manufacturing stages into a single machine.

The NX70 DUO version AM will be exhibited at the Japan International Machine Tool Fair 2026, in Tokyo from October 26 to October 31, 2026.
