Voxshell raise £800k Seed for new meshing technology

Voxshell has closed a £800,000 seed funding round from DSW Ventures, with support from Innovate UK, to accelerate ChopMesh, its proprietary meshing platform for engineering simulation.

Voxshell was created to support additive manufacturing, where converting complex 3D geometry into mesh models can consume huge amounts of time and resources, forcing engineers to degrade fidelity and discard precise structural designs.

Its proprietary algorithm, ChopMesh, was built from the ground up to ingest implicit geometry natively without conversion, preserving the full design intent through the simulation mesh via an nTop connector that works within the nTop GUI.

By incorporating AI-accelerated processing, ChopMesh automates workflows in which legacy tools require human intervention, generating geometrically faithful meshes substantially faster.

Having spun out of Cranfield University in April 2024, Voxshell states it has paying customers and pilots underway with a number of tier-one aerospace OEMs. The team is also developing a higher-performance version of ChopMesh, capable of automating the batch processing of large-scale mesh files that current tools cannot handle, which is due to be released later this year.

The investment will be used to scale the Voxshell engineering team and add automated workflow orchestration to the platform, while supporting the team in building on the initial commercial traction it generated and extend its go to market partnerships.
