The University of Edinburgh’s AI enhanced Accelerator Programme, an initiative which helps AI-focused startups and scaleups to ‘maximise commercial potential,’ is open for 2025 applications.

The programme runs for six months and will widen its selection process this year to encourage applications from an increased range of tech-focused scaleup companies.

In Deloitte’s report titled ‘AI Powered Cities of the Future,’ Edinburgh was the only city in the UK to be named an AI leader.

Delivered by the university’s Innovation Hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, the Accelerator Programme will provide both teaching and business exposure opportunities.

It will include monthly workshops on increasing commercial growth, online activities and two trips to London.

With a large proportion of design and engineering software tools now utilising different types of AI, the Accelerator Programme’s new selection process will make the course available to scaleups in the industry.

Pre-qualifications close at noon on Wednesday 24 May, and the deadline for applications to the programme is 9am on Monday 19th May.

The 2025 cohort will be mentored by Daniel Winterstein, a PhD graduate and co-founder of Good-Loop, who will be acting as technical entrepreneur in residence.

Programme manager Katy Guthrie said “AI is having a profoundly positive impact on companies and their growth across the globe.”

“Through our programme we are helping transform innovative startups into world-leading companies and supporting wider economic growth (…) we are inviting startups and scaleups from tech businesses around the world to join us.”

“We’ll be refocusing on scaleups with products that are ready to make an impact,” she added.
