VXelements 9.0, Creaform’s modular software package for 3D scanning and reverse engineering, has seen its latest release, with what the company describes as tools for the ‘ever-changing needs of users’.

Creaform has optimised its fully integrated 3D software platform, which powers its entire fleet of 3D scanning and measurement hardware, to improve customer experience, increase ease-of-use, and strengthen the powerful tools that users already value.

Several new features, as well as existing features enhancements, were developed to provide significative improvements in VXelements 9.0 across VXscan, VXinspect, VXmodel, or VXscan-R.

Smart Resolution has been added in VXelements 9.0, which works with the latest generation of Creaform 3D scanners to allow users to generate scans from multiple resolution levels to better reproduce details, edges and high curvatures.

Higher levels of resolution can be automatically created in several ways: by software intelligence; by being triggered from the scanner; and by being generated from a selection on the mesh or from a template.

Smart Resolution can be also combined with VXscan-R, a new and improved surface feature combined to allow users to generate robot trajectories and get more from automated scanning processes, such as quality control solutions.

A new VXelements viewer can now be used for data sharing, with a free version of the platform allowing customers or colleagues outside the team to visualise data firsthand, making collaborative projects simpler and faster.

With the addition of the Flatten Mesh, the Extrude boundaries and the Extend boundaries features, a new VXmodel module will enable users to carry out post-treatment operations on 3D scan data with greater simplicity.

Within VXelements 9.0, the VXinspect module for quick inspection tools allow functionalities such as ‘one-click’ entity creation, new construction methods for geometrical entities, and new reporting capabilities to add greater simplicity and flexibility to Creaform’s 3D inspection software.

“Through our close partnerships with leaders of all industries, customer feedback, and our constant desire to innovate, we have developed features that will change companies’ workflows overnight,” said Creaform product management director Daniel Brown.

“We are driven by the belief that it is always possible to make life easier for our clients, without compromising accuracy and results.”
