Siemens has introduced Simcenter PhysicsAI add-on for AI-powered CFD design exploration, promising faster iteration cycles

The expansion of Simcenter’s advanced engineering simulation and test solutions portfolio with Simcenter PhysicsAI software will enable engineers to almost instantly evaluate design concepts and variations.

The new capabilities mean engineers can create AI reduced-order models (ROMs) from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation data and conduct what-if exploration faster with fewer resources.

User will be able to explore thousands of design variants in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ using AI-powered models and predict geometry performance with built-in validation against high-fidelity CFD results.

“Engineering simulation isn’t limited by physics – it’s limited by how quickly we can explore possibilities. Our strategy is to help customers learn from past work, accelerate exploration, and use AI as a prescriptive engine for innovation. We’re not replacing deterministic truth – we’re making it scalable and immediate,” said Siemens Digital Industries Software executive vice president of Simulation, HPC and AI, Sam Mahalingam.

Engineers will be able to train and validate AI surrogate models using simulation results and predict geometries within their simulation.

“Simcenter PhysicAI allows customers to target challenges with unprecedented speed and intelligence, frees teams from repetitive tasks and fragmented data and empowers engineers to focus on what matters most: driving creativity and accelerating innovation,” added Mahalingam.

Simcenter PhysicsAI aims to streamline the creation and use of AI ROMs to support broader design space exploration, better reuse of existing simulation investments and ensure faster iteration cycles by shifting early-stage screening from solver runs to AI inference and Integrateing AI ROMs into optimisation studies to explore design variants.

The add-on will quantify prediction accuracy with error metrics and validation tools that ensure AI models capture correct performance trends, enabling confident engineering decisions and offering GPU-accelerated design exploration with predictions running up to 100x faster on GPU versus CPU.

Simcenter PhysicsAI is available now as an add-on to Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
