Other Machine Company rebrands to Bantam Tools

For those of us on this side of the pond, Bantam Tools – the new name for Other Machine Company (who we wrote about back in our April issue) – might conjure up shades of two stroke BSAs.

As CEO and founder, Danielle Applestone, said in the accompanying blog post: “We chose ‘bantam’ because it is the name of the small-but-mighty roosters known for competing well above their weight class.

“They are a great underdog animal, but much like our ‘adorable’ milling machines – don’t underestimate what they can do!”

The company was founded back in 2013 and went through one of the few truly successful kick-starters and has built a business supplying smaller scale CNC machines, focussing on the production of PCB, but equally as adept at machining other non-ferrous, small parts in a workshop context.

Along with the new name, comes a new owner, one Bre Pettis formerly of Makerbot fame – and an update to the existing product range – including automatic probing, better dust collection and a heavy update to the file preparation software.

In addition to this, the other good news for those of us outside the US is that the machines are now CE certified, so if you fancy seeing what all the fuss is about, they’re good to go for import.
