Parent company 3D Systems has continued its own industrial revolution with updates to two of its tools from the manufacturing-end of the spectrum – GibbsCAM 12 and Geomagic Control X 2018.

Taking advantage of an updated platform architecture, Geomagic Control X 2018 enables customers to more efficiently create inspection models as well as scan, evaluate, and communicate inspection results with newly customisable and intuitive reports.

Reduced calculation time by up to 50 per cent should give users faster analysis during their common inspection workflows, while Geomagic Control X 2018 enables users to import, align, and compare faster than before.

In addition, 3D Systems claims that its model-based Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) assignment workflows, coupled with fast scan-pair searching, can cut model setup and evaluation times by more than 50 per cent versus its competitors.

GibbsCAM 12, the latest version of 3D Systems’ CAM software for production manufacturing, has received a brand new user interface designed specifically for CNC programming for fast, efficient programming, providing users with ‘tools to program their parts, their way’.

Billed as a single application, with a single user interface for programming all CNC machines, GibbsCAM 12’s MTM option delivers programming capabilities for the most complex MTM and Swiss-style machines, including attachments such as part catchers, vises, tailstocks, and robots.

In addition, the Universal Kinematic Machining (UKM) technology provides users with flexibility and configurability to tackle machines with any number of spindles and axes.

re-defined fixtures are now automatically avoided, providing accurate programming of solid models

Customers will have access to more than 15,000 proven post-processors along with ongoing additions and custom post-processors created to customer’s exact specifications for virtually every machine/control combination on the market.

“We continue to listen to customer feedback to provide the highest standard of excellence in additive and subtractive manufacturing solutions,” said Ilan Erez, senior VP and GM for software at 3D Systems.

“Today’s introductions emphasise our continuing pursuit to deliver industry leading software that makes customer’s jobs easier – enabling them to be more productive with lower total cost of operations.”
