Streamline Solutions has released Elements 4.2.0, an open-source software suite for vehicle design applications and intended for streamlining CFD simulations.

The software is suitable for design applications distributed by Streamline Solutions, a joint venture by ENGYS and Auto Research Centre.

Elements contains two simulation environments: a virtual wind tunnel wizard for modelling external vehicle aerodynamics, and a general purpose CFD interface for solving other design applications including in-cabin flows.

Any type of vehicle can be designed using the software, with the virtual wind tunnel wizard able to replicate the effects of driving, sailing or riding.

The release of version 4.2.0 has introduced new features aimed at improving the streamlining of CFD simulations and overall user experience.

The updated version is described by Streamline Solutions as “fast, simple and reliable.”

Elements 4.2.0 includes enhanced Python Journaling and Macro Library for automation of simulation tasks as well as enhanced Aero Wizard with high-fidelity external aero template and refined configuration options.

The new geometry tab simplifies geometry preparation for a smoother workflow and the new mesh interface enables the creation of multiple grids in a single process.

Full GUI support is available for Non-Confirming Coupling interfaces, ensuring accurate coupling.

New post-processing tools tailored specifically for turbomachinery cases offer advanced visualisation capabilities.

Existing users of Elements can access and download version 4.2.0 through the ENGYS customer portal.

It is intended to bridge the gap between designers, engineers and management by offering a more succinct design integration with shorter product-to-market cycles and lower production costs.
