As the entries for RAPID Challenge 2021 begin to flow in, the contest’s organisers have announced an online launch event with further advice and some inspirational words from those that have lived the start-up life.
Taking place on 8 July from 5-6:30pm BST, the free event will be joined by Roland Emmans, head of technology sector at HSBC, and serial entrepreneur Malcolm Burwell, who will give helpful information that will help you on your journey to delivering a successful start-up.

Lauren Bell, founder of Cosi Care & winner of last year’s RAPID Challenge [pictured above], will share her own story through last year’s competition and share how that has helped as she prepares to launch her product onto the market in the coming months.
The launch event will also provide the opportunity to ask direct questions about The RAPID Challenge at the end via an after-event Q&A session.
The Challenge is organised by Prodrive Ventures, the investment arm of British motorsport and advanced engineering business Prodrive, as it seeks to identify, reward and help bring the best and most innovative British based hardware start-ups to market.
“We are delighted that The RAPID Challenge is supported by an exciting range of partners, each from an sector relevant to a hardware start-up,” said organiser David Cullimore, head of innovation at Prodrive Ventures.
“By entering The RAPID Challenge you will benefit from insights and expertise from the partners and be in with the chance to win the prize package, specifically curated to benefit a hardware start-up.
“This is a unique opportunity to gain leading support to help drive your start-up.”
Each year there is a prize package for the winners, including funding and a range of dedicated workshops from the Challenge’s partners – providing valuable advice and insight to help build a business plan for their projects.
Five successful submissions go forward to the interview stage, with three reaching the final at Prodrive’s headquarters in Banbury in November. Here they present their projects to an invited audience and the winner is announced
Applications are now open and will close on 30 July 2021 – find out more here.
