Solid Edge is to now include CAM Pro 2.5-axis milling for users with the CAD package, providing a pathway to maintain full associativity with design data along with automated tool path creation and visualisations for optimised machining processes.
Siemens says that the included 2.5 Axis CAM package, based on Siemens NX CAM, will feature the same capabilities as the full 2.5 Axis package.
The new package includes advanced capabilities such as adaptive milling for 2.5 axis operations, which were previously available only in 3- and 5-axis milling.
Adaptive milling is an innovative process that improves productivity while providing longer cutting tool life. This is achieved by delivering consistent tool load while removing high rates of material.
Another included capability is planar deburring, a new feature that looks to improve the quality of parts manufactured using 2.5-axis milling by automatically identifying and removing burrs and sharp edges along planar faces.
This package includes access to more than 1300 postprocessors via Post Hub, allowing users to filter using several different criteria to find the exact post processor needed, while the Post Hub is constantly being refreshed with new posts.
Available with Solid Edge Foundation, Classic, and Premium licenses under an active maintenance contract the included Pro 2.5 Axis is billed as providing a great upgrade path to 3-axis, 5-axis, turning, and more, all the while familiarising users with the Solid Edge CAM ecosystem.
Part of the small print worth checking over is that an active maintenance contract is required to be eligible for the offer, while subscriptions purchased from the Siemens Digital Industries Software online store do not qualify.
