AMD has released details of its new mobile FirePro professional GPUs – the AMD FirePro M2000, M4000 and M6000.
The entry-level FirePro M2000, which features 480 stream processors and 1GB GDDR5 memory, is available inside the new 14-inch HP Elitebook 8470w mobile workstation.
The mid-range FirePro M4000, with 512 stream processors and 1GB GDDR5 memory, is an option on the 15-inch HP Elitebook 8570w and 17-inch HP Elitebook 8770w mobile workstations. A 2GB version of the GPU is also available.
The higher-end FirePro M6000, with 640 stream processors and 2GB GDDR5 memory, doesn’t yet have a home in a tier one mobile workstation, though this may change shortly with Dell due to update its Precision mobile range shortly.
Using AMD Eyefinity technology, all three GPUs can drive 3 displays undocked and up to 5 displays docked. They all support OpenGL 4.2 as well as OpenCL 1.2.
