Spatial launches Data Prep to fix up CAD for downstream workflows

Spatial, a subsidiary of Dassaut Systèmes providing Software Development Kits (SDKs) for design, manufacturing, and engineering solutions, has announced its release of Data Prep for automating the simplification of CAD models for downstream use.

As the size and complexity of CAD models continue to increase and with the scope of data in CAD files growing to cover different disciplines, Data Prep pre-processes and simplifies imported data to target specific applications.

With the new tool, Spatial aims to help application developers easily integrate CAD data preparation capabilities as a part of the import process. An add-on product for 3D InterOp, it can reduce model complexity and size, mask IP, and tailor outputs with filtering and compression techniques.

Actions like filtering small bodies out of a model, removing small holes and fillets, or generating an assembly structure from a part with duplicate bodies can be done without any need for manual editing, with additional strategies planned for future releases.

As an example, users can quickly achieve data size reduction of their assets by automatically removing all objects under a size threshold during 3D Import. With the simplified representations obtained, robotics experts can optimise virtual robotic simulation and programming.

Spatial has now offered a range of modelling, 3D visualisation, and CAD translation SDKs to help developers deliver market-leading products for over 35 years, and have been adopted by many software developers, manufacturers, research institutes, and universities around the world.

Headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, Spatial has offices in the USA, Germany, Japan, China, and the United Kingdom.
