Formlabs has announced its latest resin for 3D printing ceramic parts, allowing the creation of structures and complex geometries not possible with traditional ceramic fabrication techniques.

The resin is the first of the company’s new Form X range, an offshoot of MIT’s experimental product platform, and was announced at CES in Las Vegas.

“In announcing Form X, we want to get innovative materials and research tools into the hands of those who wish to explore, improvise, and push the boundaries of what’s possible with 3D printing and on the Form 2,” said Formlabs chief product officer Dávid Lakatos.
“Ceramic Resin is perfect example with Form X. Ceramic Resin is one of the most novel areas in material science to explore in 3D printing right now. Ceramic 3D printing allows for the creation of structures and complex geometries not possible with traditional ceramic fabrication techniques.”

Additionally, Formlabs introduced its reformulated Grey Resin that creates a matte finish for prototypes, the company’s third iteration of one of its most popular materials.

The new materials will all be available for the Formlabs Form 2 3D printer – which you can read our in-depth review of here.
