Kickstarter UK has launched Rewired, a free month-long digital programme to help introduce the creators of some of the most innovative projects launched on the platform from 2020 and 2021, from the UK and beyond.
A weekly one-hour talk, Kickstarter Rewired will dive into ideas that are shaping a ‘more vibrant and equitable future’, with the first talk – Dreaming of the future – taking place on 12 May – the talks will pay attention to the world emerging from lockdown and dreaming of outdoor adventures.
Speakers include, Rob Hopkins, the author of What Is to What If: Unleashing the Power of Imagination to Create the Future We Want, who will be discussing how we can use our imagination to design the future.
Carson Brown, product designer at electric road scooter brand Taur, will speak about the re-thinking of future of movement in cities.
The pair of Sebastian Aristotelis and Karl-Johan Sørensen, the creators of Lunark, a home for living on the moon, will also share how they looked beyond the Earth to imagine the home of the future.
The Kickstarter Rewired event will be hosted by Heather Swift Hunt from Kickstarter’s UK Design and Tech team.
The other talks take place on 19 May – ‘Designing products that give back’ – and 26 May – ‘Wonder materials, circular waste, and sustainability’.
The UK has emerged as Kickstarter’s second-largest community of backers and creators, with over 20,000 projects successfully funded, and attracting over £300 million in pledges.
