Workstation Specialists is expanding its mobile workstation range, courtesy of a brand new ultra slim machine from MSI – the Workstation Specialists WSM150S also known as the MSI WS60. It’s 20mm thick, weighs in at a cool 1.9kg, features a 15.6-inch HD (1,920 x 1,080) or WQHD+ (2,880 x 1,620) display and still manages to pack in an optical drive.
Comparisons are sure to be drawn to the sleek Dell Precision M3800, which re-defined the mobile workstation when it launched late last year.
While WS60 can’t quite boast the same svelte proportions as Dell’s ultraslim offering (390mm x 266mm x 19.9mm compared to the Dell Precision M3800’s 372mm x 254mm x 8-18mm) it does pack a bit more punch.
The Intel Core i7-4710MQ CPU (2.5GHz up to 3.5GHz) and Nvidia Quadro K2100M GPU (576 CUDA cores + 2GB) are a small but significant step up from the Precision M3800’s Intel Core i7-4702HQ (2.2GHz up to 3.2GHz) and Quadro K1100M (384 CUDA cores + 2GB) and should pique the interest of more demanding CAD users. Both machines have a maximum of 16GB RAM.
Prices are comparable.
