solidThinking’s free-to-download (student edition) Inspire software enables design engineers to generate and explore structurally efficient concepts such as this spring bracket

Design and engineering students have less than a month to download SolidThinking’s Inspire software and submit an entry into the Inspire Engineering Challenge.

The deadline is 6th October and winners will be announced at the Graduate Engineering and Science Show, taking place on Wednesday 29th October at The Roundhouse in Derby.

Having got to grips with the software, which SolidThinking assures is easy to learn and works with existing CAD tools to help create structurally efficient concepts, you or your team can choose from from one of three competition challenges.
– Design an alloy wheel – with reference to aesthetics, structural performance and weight
– Design a load bearing device of your choice for use at a Summer Festival e.g. Portable Seating
– Design a tool for use by people of limited physical ability to help in their everyday lives.

Entries must be presented using solidThinking’s Inspire software. If you’ve never used it before, you can get to grips with it by viewing this training webinar. Below is a brief introduction to it.
