Stratasys updates to be showcased at Formnext

Stratasys has announced updates to its FDM Fused Deposition Modeling and P3 Programmable Photopolymerization product portfolios to be showcased at Formnext in Frankfurt.

The FDM platform updates include the new Fortus FDC filament drying cabinet, a delivery and drying system designed to hold two Xtend 250 Fortus Plus spools.

Stratasys anticipates that this will boost the uptime of the F900 printer by up to 2.7 times.

The FDC cabinet allows for extended print operations, eliminates moisture-related defects and reduces downtime for large-scale manufacturing.

Other updates include a new FDM PC-ESD material for the Fortus 450mc and F900 printers.

The material is tailored for applications requiring electrostatic discharge protection and is intended for use in creating tools, jigs, fixtures and assembly aids.

An expanded layer height option for Ultem 9085 resin is also now available in new Red and Aircraft Gray colours. This new thickness enables faster printing speeds for these materials.

Stratasys is also adding over 30 materials to the Origin P3 resin platform, including the Ultracur3D RG 3280 by Forward AM, a ceramic-filled material for injection moulding tooling.

The new materials can support additive manufacturing in applications including automotive components, earbuds, casting and gas/liquid flow adapters.

“A key factor in helping our customers expand their adoption of AM solutions in their manufacturing processes is providing them materials which meet the demanding expectations necessary for the parts they produce,” said chief business unit officer Rich Garrity.

“As materials have matured to support more use cases, customers have more opportunities to leverage the unique benefits of additive to increase production and reduce costs.”
