Bambu Lab has announced the CMF by Nothing Phone 1 design contest, where entrants will design a phone case to be designed using 3D printing.
The contest will have three winners: one for Best Functional, one for Best-Looking, and one for Most Unexpected. There will also be 12 Excellent Participation Awards.
The contest closes on 14 August with the winners each receiving a CMF Phone 1 and a Bambu Lab A1 Mini Combo.
Contestants can upload their designs onto the MakerWorld website, allowing anyone to download them and print them as 3D models.
“The contest with CMF by Nothing is a significant step toward our vision of empowering anyone to create and personalise their own products,” said Dr. Tao, co-founder and CEO of Bambu Lab.
The CMF by Nothing Phone 1 has replaceable back covers, accessories and standard screw types, making it fully customisable.
Accessories can be attached for functionality and the aesthetics can be changed by removing the back cover and replacing it with a customised one.
The CMF by Nothing Community team has shared a STEP file of the Phone 1’s rear case and published its dimensions to make the design process easier.
“We are constantly seeking to co-create with our members, so it felt natural to open up the CMF Phone 1 platform to the creative community on MakerWorld too. We are already seeing some inspiring and unexpected designs and I can’t wait to discover some of the talented 3D designers throughout the process,” said CMF by Nothing co-founder Akis.
