The Wacom MobileStudio Pro, launching later this month, is targeting the 3D market with its powerful new tablet – featuring a pro Nvidia Quadro GPU, 4k resolution, and an inbuilt 3D scanner.
Available in 13.3″ and 15.6″ models, the range of larger models top spec comes with the Nvidia Quadro M1000M GPU with 4GB VRAM, while the Wacom Link technology has the added benefit of letting users to attach a MobileStudio Pro to any Mac or PC and use it as a standard Cintiq display once back at the desktop.
Running on Windows 10, as well as being solid enough to run standard applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator, Wacom is keen to promote the Mobile Studio Pro’s ability to run 3D CAD.
The top spec tablet is able to run more demanding 3D software applications such as Autodesk Fusion 360, to which the inbuilt Intel RealSense 3D scanner can directly capture and import content.
Forming a new family in the Wacom line, the MobileStudio Pro features Wacom’s new Pro Pen 2 technology, a newly designed pen unit with a claimed four-times higher accuracy and pressure sensitivity than the company’s previous professional pen, Wacom is pushing the pro tablet as the ‘ultimate creative tool for today’s serious 2D, 3D and CAD artists and designers’.
“Unlike most general-purpose mobile tablets created for the mass market, Wacom’s MobileStudio Pro was designed specifically for the needs of the creative professional and how they work,” said Ed Neumann, senior VP of Wacom’s creative branded business.
