For those of us in the UK who were there in the beginning of the mainstream CAD revolution and the years since, most will be more than familiar with two of the UK’s leading resellers, Solid Solutions and NT CADCAM (That’s New Technology CADCAM).

As SolidWorks took hold, both organisations, along with others such as CADTek Systems and many more, spread the gospel according to SolidWorks amongst the many in the UK.

Now it has been announced that Solid Solution has acquired NTCADCAM, following its acquisition of CADTek Systems last year.
While the NTCADCAM brand will not be retired, it does mean that overall Solid Solutions now supports a customer community of more than 12,500 UK and Ireland-based customers.

According to the press release: “The Solid Solutions Group, which generates an annual turnover in excess of £40 million, employs 220 people across the UK & Ireland and has more SolidWorks Elite Applications Engineers than any other reseller worldwide.

“In January this year, the business received 17 awards at the annual SolidWorks conference in Los Angeles, confirming its position as the UK’s leading 3D CAD reseller for SolidWorks.”

The release further states that the acquisition adds both ‘scale and capacity’ benefits, and allows customers to benefit from a wider product and service offering, plus easier access to training by adding New Technology CADCAM’s 8 UK training centres to the 11 already operated by Solid Solutions.
