Koenigsegg’s epic detail runs right down to its custom, metals 3D printed, window washer jets

By now we’re used with seeing Koenigsegg rolling state-of-the-art hypercars off its hand-assembled Swedish production line; designs where no part is insignificant, and hence some very special windshield washer nozzles.

The surface of the nozzle is supplied with mirror gloss finish and the outlet itself is a cut-out of the Koenigsegg logotype, while inside the 3D printed design means the nozzle body contains a number of ‘secret, performance-enhancing functions’ for increasing the ability for blasting dead bugs and bird shit clean out of view.

The detailed part is built on a Digital Metal DM P2500 3D printer, a fully industrial unit from a brand that might be new to many, however it comes with a solid pedigree, having been developed by Höganäs AB – the world’s largest producer of iron and non-ferrous metal powders.

Its high-precision binder-jetting technology aims to give high print speed and cost-effective production of customised metals parts – in Stainless steel 316L, 17-4PH and Ti6Ai4V – while retaining an incredible level of detail when compared with SLS.

If you’re a customer purchasing a car worth several million USD, then you probably cannot accept anything but the world’s most spectacular washer nozzle. And quite right too.
