Delcam’s iQube scanner feeds the 3D model of the foot directly into the software and on to the CNC milling machine faster than you can waltz

Taking it’s pro milling know-how, Delcam has jumped feet first into the custom orthotics industry, supplying Prestige Healthcare with a full CADCAM and 3D scanning portable solution for its patients.

Delcam’s iQube, OrthoModel and OrthoMill were all demonstrated to the public at the recent Ideal Home Show, scanning people’s feet and milling custom insoles for shoes using its portable equipment on its trade stand.

Once a person has stood on the iQube stand-on scanner, the data is transferred to the OrthoModel software, which allows direct shaping options for people suffering from shin splints or other common ailments.

Having real 3D model of the foot allows custom changes to be made before that data can be sent straight to the OrthoMill – a CNC foam milling machine that shapes the insoles, ready to be put into the wearer’s footwear.

As Prestige Healthcare explain, NHS funding has been cut for a lot of orthotics procedures, so it’s important for it as a company to have affordable technology to produce reliable and accurate insoles, while for the customer, they need to have those cost and time savings passed along too.
