A new 3D mesh comparison functionality enables deviation measurements between two meshes or between a CAD model and a mesh

Creaform’s 3D scan data post-treatment software module, VXmodel, has been fully integrated in VXelements 4.0 as it aims to cut the users scan-to-use time.

Delivering the tools required for complete scan-to-CAD and scan-to-3D print workflows, the software is designed to complement Creaform’s range of 3D scanners.

Integration into VXelements means VXmodel can directly build on its automatically generated mesh, while a new auto-surfacer generates NURBS in a high-quality patch network that can automatically converted to an IGES or STEP file.

A new 3D mesh comparison functionality enables deviation measurements between two meshes or between a CAD model and a mesh, allowing validation for reference scans with the conformity of reverse engineering.

Users can also benefit from a more flexible solution for the import of STL files, with VXmodel combining functionalities, such as alignment, geometrical entities and cross-sections, mesh improvement and mesh editing.

VX model includes tools to help users modify the 3D scan mesh, which should allow for making it watertight and able to generate print-ready files for rapid manufacturing processes.
