Siemens Digital Industries Software is expanding its Xcelerator SaaS portfolio adding more capabilities from its comprehensive software portfolio, allowing users to tailor it to their requirements.

Billed as ‘flexible, modular solutions run on the industry’s most robust interoperable data backbone’, the software available can fit workflows from concept to manufacturing.

NX X is Siemens’ a new cloud-based solution for product engineering, which the company says delivers industry leading product engineering capabilities as-a-service and as a SaaS can allow customers to free up resources, so they can scale and focus on innovation.

Centralised cloud license management, configuration, and provision of capability should see NX X also simplify IT requirements, with the software able to be installed on the desktop or stream via AWS cloud services where needed, providing flexibility for distributed teams.

Additionally, Siemens says that NX X also provides fully integrated and secure data management capabilities with every license, letting users manage product data, change management and release workflows and conduct collaborative reviews, with commenting, view/mark-up in real-time – all directly from the NX X interface.

Built using data and lifecycle management capabilities from Siemens’ Teamcenter X software, NX X has been designed to show a route to adopt PLM capabilities.

While the SaaS version of NX also delivers cloud-based ad hoc data sharing and collaboration with external collaborators through the Teamcenter Share app.

Simcenter X software delivers the capabilities of Simcenter’s portfolio of simulation and test solutions, on the cloud. The initial release is focused on Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and delivered as part of Siemens Xcelerator.

Simcenter X is set to allow engineers in companies of all sizes to access a cloud-based virtual engineering desktop environment for modelling and post-processing, combined with a highly scalable, high-performance computing (HPC) environment.

Also added is Teamcenter X Essentials, marketed as an affordable way to access Teamcenter’s PLM capabilities, helping businesses begin the transition to digital faster and adopt PLM rapidly.

In addition, Siemens has also added Opcenter X software, new SaaS solution for manufacturing operations management (MOM), and the Zel X engineering app for streamlining manufacturing and shop-floor operations.

Joe Bohman [pictured above], executive VP, PLM Products at Siemens Digital Industries Software, spoke of the innovation around Siemens Xcelerator at Siemens’ Realize Live user event in Las Vegas, USA.

He said: “The cloud market will surpass $1 trillion in 2026 and every CIO (Chief Information Officer) I talk to is intensely interested in what we’re doing with the cloud.

“What we’re doing is Siemens Xcelerator as a Service. We’re offering our full set of solutions as SaaS solutions designed using our digital thread methodology so it all connects together. We’re building out of the box SaaS solutions that are secure, personalized and customizable with Mendix, and it brings together expert communities, giving people the ability to talk and work together.”

According to Siemens’ own research, its customers say they are 33% faster to market using this approach with 60% lower IT costs measured with a number of customers and 100% up to date. “All with built in scalability – everything we do is scalable,” concluded Bohman.
