Formlabs has announced two new materials and new SLA and SLS post-processing tools, enabling new printing applications.
Its new material, Clear Cast Resin, features thermal expansion that enables faster and easier printing, and is accurate within 0.25mm, resulting in minimal cracking in parts.
Its first third-party certified material, BEGO VarseoSmile Triniq Resin, is a ceramic-filled biocompatible material intended for dental printing, specifically permanent and provisional restorations and bridges.
This resin is the first 3D printing resin intended for permanent bridges and is intended for use with Form 4B printers.
Both materials are now available through Formlabs’ materials library, which contains over 45 materials.
New post-processing tools include Formlabs Resin Washing Solutions, a cleaning solution which dissolves resin off 3D printed parts, reducing the need for frequent top-offs. It dissolves twice as much resin as IPA before becoming saturated.
They also include the Fuse Blast Polishing System, which cleans and polishes parts straight from the Fuse Sift, allowing users to add a smooth, semi-gloss, scuff-resistant, dye-ready surface finish to their printed parts.
The third new post-processing tool is the Fuse Sift Glovebox Bundle, which includes the Fuse Sift Glovebox Panel and the Fuse Parts Carrier. These are paired for the Fuse Sift which streamlines part extraction and minimises powder exposure, improving cleanliness for a more comfortable workflow.
Formlabs has also introduced Open Material Mode for Form 4 printers, a software add-on that enables an SLA printer to print with any 405nm resin. This feature was previously only available on Form 3 printers.
