Digital Metal triples 3D print speeds with software update

A new software upgrade from Digital Metal reportedly triples the printing speed of the company’s DM P2500 printer.

This allows for significantly larger production volume per time unit while keeping the metal binder jetting printer’s high detail.

Extra speed, however, also allows the DM P2500 to produce significantly larger component volumes per time unit while maintaining component quality.

The new software comes as standard on all new units, with upgrade kits available for installed printers.

Digital Metal explains that all moving parts in the DM P2500 have an accuracy down to single microns, while a 160 mm thick custom-made diabase stone brings stability in a bid to ensure that no vibrations affect the printing process.

Adding this to the new high productivity makes the DM P2500 ideal for serial production of small complex metal components.

“We constantly work to improve the performance of our printers so that our customers can work as cost-effectively as possible”, says Alexander Sakratidis, sales and marketing manager at Digital Metal.

“This important upgrade makes it possible to reach even greater production volumes without sacrificing component quality.”

Sakratidis concludes that Digital Metal plan to continue introducing similar significant upgrades ‘twice a year’.

Digital Metals technology has been used to 3D print high detail components on Koenigsegg hypercars – including these very special windshield washer nozzles.
