This is some pretty big news for those rocking Modo for their animation sequences. The Luxology team has just announced that the Bullet physics engine is going to be available for use inside Modo. Delivered as the recoil plug-in, it can accurately simulate dynamic rigid body interactions (it’s worth noting that this uses the sub-d meshes from Modo, rather than the cage geometry that other physics engines use). The plug-in was developed independently by Eric Soulvie using the modo Plug-in Software Development Kit (SDK) and runs on both the PC and Mac versions of modo 501. What’s more, it’s a $199. To me, that’s a bargain for anyone pushing their animation hard.
