Surphaser is to offer a complete reverse engineering solution that combines its mid- and long-range 3D scanners with INUS Technology’s Rapidform 3D scanning software.

Surphaser 3D scanners can scan objects from 1 to 70+ metres away with sub-millimetre accuracy and can capture up to 1.2 million points per second. They are designed to be portable and adaptable to operate in industrial and outdoors environments.
“We feel the world market is definitely turning to accuracy now,” said Nick Zintchenko, Basis Software vice president. “By combining the accuracy of our systems with Rapidform’s ability to create CAD models of scanned objects, our customers in aerospace, automotive and facilities management can depend on their 3D scanning solution results with the best hardware and software combination.”

INUS Technology recently released a new version of its flagship reverse engineering software, Rapidform XOR. The software combines 3D scan data processing and parametric solid modeling to give users the ability to create intelligent CAD models from point clouds and polygon meshes. Rapidform XOR can create native CAD models from scan data for SolidWorks, PTC Creo (Pro/E), Siemens NX, CATIA V4/V5, AutoCAD, and new for 2012, Autodesk Inventor.

New features include ‘Quick Modelling’, a way of creating parametric feature based models using a technology that identifies and creates extrusions, revolutions, lofts, sweeps and pipes automatically.
